The term "paediatrics" comes from the Greek words "paidi" (child) and "iatros" (healer). Paediatricians are medical doctors who have specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood illnesses, from birth through adolescence. They are trained to identify and manage a wide range of medical conditions that affect children, including infections, developmental delays, genetic disorders, behavioural problems, and chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy.
